Sky's online catch-up TV service, Sky Player, is to be made available on a number of Freeview set-top boxes and internet-connected TVs.rn

The broadcaster has signed deals with Cello, which manufactures LCD TVs, and 3View - a provider of set-top boxes that offer access to the UK's free digital TV service,rn Freeview.rn

Sky Player can currently be access from any PC with a broadband connection, Windows Media Center, the Xbox 360 games console and Fetch TV - a TV-on-demand that combines Freeview broadcasts with other content.Sky customer can access content related to their TVrn packages for free on SWky Player, while other users can watch shows on a pay-per-view basis.rn

Griff Parry, Sky's director of on-demand, said the bringing Sky Player together with Cello and 3View "demonstrates the vibrancyrn of the evolving internet video-on-demand sector".rn

"We will continue to look at opportunities to distribute Sky Player across new platforms, to give consumers even more choicern and control over how they access high-quality pay TV content."rn
